About the Sommelier role:

Overview:
McGettigan’s UAE is looking for a skilled and passionate Sommelier to join our team. As a Sommelier, you will play a key role in enhancing our guests’ hospitality experience by curating a diverse wine selection. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and lively setting where you will be able to showcase your expertise in wine and leading wine-related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curate the wine list, ensuring a variety of international selections that complement our needs.
• Provide wine recommendations to guests, elevating their overall experience.
• Train staff on wine service and wine knowledge to ensure consistently high standards.
• Manage wine stock, oversee inventory, and work with suppliers to source high-quality wines.
• Organize and host wine tastings and help with special events for our guests.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wine trends, regions, and new product offerings.
• Ensure that all wines are stored and served at the correct temperature and conditions.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Sommelier in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
• Good knowledge of wine, including regions, varieties, and pairing techniques.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for engaging with guests.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• A WSET Level 1 certification or equivalent is preferred.
